It is good to travel and learn, and appreciate what u have at the end.

I met my wife in Hong Kong. She worked there because the pay was "better" then where she was from, Indonesia. She worked as a domestic helper for a rich Jakarta family, earning around $360 a month after highschool. Between her two stints with that employer, she moved back to the Semarang area to work in a Honda factory to be around her family. There, she was boarding in a building near the factory but only being paid around $120 per month, which made her return to her former job. Once back at the domestic helper job and a side gig working in the wife's beauty parlor, her friend told her that she had a similar job in HK that paid $550 a month. Just for reference on how hard people work for "good money" outside the USA and the western world-Mon-Sat, 7:00am-10:00pm, Sunday 7:00am-10:00am, off until 8:00pm and working until 10:00pm, all while living at her place of employment. We ended up in Japan, where she worked at a restaurant, working 10:00am-10:30pm Tues-Sat, without tips(its their culture), earning about $1100 USD per month. Two years later, she came to the USA after I returned for work. She is currently working 3 jobs as a server at Asian restaurants, which she loves. She is around friends and loves the American system of minimum wage and tipping. She does work 7 days a week but she considers everyone from her coworkers, customers and owners to be friends. She will even buy birthday gifts for customer's children and loves being there. She is now making well over $5k a month. So much more then she made previously, that she purchased land and is having a 14 unit studio apartment building made in Java. She will be paying it off after 3 years, next year. She still wants to buy a house in Bali, which we probably will do. All of this was on her own money, I didn't find out until I did the taxes and asked where all of her money was going. She wanted to surprise me. She wants to stay here in America. The reason for the long story is this: We thought about moving to Indonesia, but I always inquired,"You are used to this lifestyle. If we move to Indonesia, where will the money come from? What job will I get that will pay as much, same with you?" She agreed. Once you have a stable, passive income, it will be fine to go to the other countries, especially the cheaper ones, to retire. Otherwise, you will be looking at a difference between making that $360 a month, or many times worse, depending on your skill set and location or making over 10 times more then that here in the USA. Invest, save and have a plan. TLDR, my foreign wife is living the American dream, there is no reason an American can't. If you want to move abroad, have a plan and have money. Life may be cheaper but the degrees of difference or based on your effort and experience that you can provide.

I was born and raised in Africa but i have always fancy traveling abroad... last year the dream finally came true and boom.. It made me appreciate home even more.. I have completed my master's degree having a job and honestly, I don't like it here except for the money cause obviously it pays more than in africa. I have learned that black people abroad we have literally very litle if nothing in common except the same skin color... all this to say that if God is to bless you he can do it in different ways and most time it takes going after what we think matters to actually realize what really matters and what makes our life fulfilled. Meanwhile, you're the first person I've heard who still has these values of having a stable family life, children and such... most people I have met here don't believe in God, and don't think it matters to have a family life ..aha I find it a very sad way of looking at life. The lack of income and visa conditions are what made a couple I know move back to the US. They are now happier in the US, now appreciating small things like proximity to family. They say they will come back to Joburg when they feel suffocated again by the USA. As our brothers and sisters, you are always welcome home.
